This is the time when Emil Ziehl started with the “ZIEHL-ABEGG Electricity Company” in Berlin-Weissensee.
He began with his fathers forge in Brandenburg via the technical university, then to AEG of Berlin and then to “Berliner Maschinenfabrik”. As a chief engineer he gained experience which later led to the success of his own enterprise constructing special electric motors.
His performance quickly earned him respect and a good reputation, He participated to a considerable degree in developing the first pole changeable lift motors and created the innovative basis for expansion of his enterprise.By 1918, the ZIEHL-ABEGG Electricity Company employed approximately 300 people, On June 1st, 1939, Emil Ziehl died. The day before, he transferred the general power of attorney of the ZIEHL-ABEGG company to his eldest son Günther, At the end of the Second World War (1945) approximately 3 000 people worked at Ziehl-Abegg.
